Age and Relaxation Criteria
The maximum age limit for applicants is 28 years as of July 11, 2026. However, there's a generous age relaxation policy in place for certain categories. SC and ST candidates are granted a five-year extension, while OBC candidates receive a three-year relaxation. Other relaxations will be provided as per government rules, ensuring a fair and inclusive selection process.
Selection Process and Fellowship Details
The selection process involves a two-pronged approach: shortlisting based on academic performance and subsequent interviews for shortlisted candidates. Once selected, fellows are appointed as Junior Research Fellows for an initial two-year period. This fellowship can be extended based on performance and project requirements, with the total tenure of JRF and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) not exceeding five years. The monthly stipend for JRFs is Rs 37,000, while SRFs may receive Rs 42,000. House Rent Allowance (HRA) and medical benefits will also be provided as per applicable rules.
