Emirates A350 Business Class: An Elegant, Well-Rounded Experience
Hello from the UAE! I recently flew Emirates' Airbus A350-900 business class on a 7-hour flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Dubai. This aircraft joined Emirates' fleet just over a year ago, marking a significant development for the airline, as it's their first new aircraft type since 2008.
Emirates chose not to install a cutting-edge business class hard product, which might have been expected, but instead opted for an evolved version of its existing staggered product. Despite this, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience.
On paper, Emirates' business class might not seem impressive, lacking features like doors at seats and dine-on-demand service. However, the airline's overall offering is what sets it apart.
Emirates excels in several key areas. Their flight attendants are renowned in the Gulf region for their exceptional service. The drink selection is impressive, featuring real cocktails, and the food is of high quality. The in-flight entertainment system, ICE, is among the best, with 20-inch 4K screens and Bluetooth audio. Additionally, the Viasat Wi-Fi is free for business class passengers, a significant improvement over the previous OnAir system.
The soft product is also well-rounded. Emirates offers generous amenity kits, including slippers and various products. The drink selection is top-notch, with real cocktails served in martini glasses, a unique feature. The food is good, though the menu might not be as extensive as some competitors, and there's no full dine-on-demand service.
The A350's seats are comfortable and spacious, with good padding and privacy. The tech features are impressive, including a tablet for seat control, USB-C and A outlets, and wireless charging. The cabin interiors are elegant, inspired by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, with a cute touch of an Emirati ghaf tree window blind.
Emirates' flight attendants are a highlight. They have a lot of personality and take pride in their jobs, making them a pleasure to interact with. This contrasts with some other Gulf airlines, where attendants might seem overly stressed due to the dine-on-demand concept.
In summary, while the A350's hard product isn't cutting-edge, the overall experience is stellar. Emirates delivers a well-rounded and comfortable journey, with excellent service and amenities. Despite other airlines' flashy features, Emirates consistently leaves a positive impression.
